People need to spend more time
watching nature and less time watching their electronic screens. But spending
time outdoors in nature can be very difficult due to our busy hectic schedule.
Most of us get back from school or work when there are only a few hours of
sunlight left and going outdoors to the wilderness at that time is not
practical. Having a beautiful backyard can be an alternative to help you
connect with nature. You can plant flowers and trees in your backyard. Take
care of your grass to have a beautiful lawn. Place some lawn chairs in your
backyard. In Perth shade sails are being
used in backyards to provide shade from direct sunlight. You can even have
tents in your backyard to experience outdoor camping while staying at home.
Transition
Spending long periods of time using
laptops, playing video games and watching television is not a natural human
nature and sooner or later it is going to have a negative effect on our health.
We are not built for this purpose. We spend hours and hours looking at the
screen of our smartphone, this has to change. Change takes place slowly, you
cannot be a professional gamer one day and outdoor adventure expert the other
day. We can start by going out for a walk in the morning, even if it is just a
10 min hike. Instead of having a lunch in the restaurant, you can have a
barbecue in your backyard. Barbecues are amazing for spending time outside of
your house and away from screens. It also helps in connecting with other
people. You can have friends and neighbor over to enjoy an afternoon by sharing
a meal, playing games and having fun.
Preparation
When spending time outside of your
house you have to be little careful. Being prepared can actually help you avoid
difficult situations and make your experience more pleasurable. If you are
going to spend time in direct sunlight, always apply sunscreen on your skin and
wear clothes that provide proper covering. Wear insect repellent if required.
Carry a hat with you at all times. You can have a shelter in your backyard by
putting a tarp over to provide shade. In Perth shade sails can be placed
in your backyard, on the porch or in the corner. Shade sails look beautiful and
they can improve the overlook of your garden. On a hot sunny day, you can lie
down under the shade sails to enjoy your afternoon and relax or you can have
people over who can gather under the shades to have a drink or a tea.
Connect with Nature
Spending time on screens causes you
to feed your face with junk food for the body and feed your mind with junk food
for the soul. Connecting with nature is very important. Nature requires our
attention, but in return, it provides us with so much more than we can ever pay
back. Nature provides us with oxygen, water, food, shelter and most importantly
a healthier life.
